Today we are living in a knowledge highway and the “Knowledge Management” has taken root in the most successful organizations in Sri Lanka as well as the world over. Having identified the growing enthusiasm for quizzing in Sri Lanka various quiz competitions are conducted in the country from time to time.

Participating at these competitions would stretch the minds of participants and test their knowledge on variety of subjects including current affairs, sports, entertainment, general knowledge etc. in both local and international context thus inculcating the vital role knowledge plays in our commercial lives as we move along the ladder of success.

OBJECTIVES:

- To provide participants with an opportunity to test their mettle.

- To develop and nurture knowledge based employees and to inculcate the habit of gaining overall knowledge which is outside of their job related learning.

- To further enhance the corporate image of the Company and to add value to the learning culture of the participants.

Format of the Quiz
The quiz will be consists of 6 Rounds and each round will have 10 questions .The questions will cover the following and will include Visual/Video based questions.

1. Current Affairs

2. Sports

3. Literature/Entertainment/Arts

4. Science and Technology

5. History and Geography

6. General Knowledge




In case the Organization happens to be a bank, the rounds will be as follows,

1. General Banking

2. Current Affairs

3. Sports

4. Literature/Entertainment/Arts

5. History and Geography

6. General Knowledge


Team Composition
A Team should comprise of maximum 5 members. The names of all team members must be declared prior to the quiz. No substitutions shall be allowed after the commencement of the quiz.

Format of the Quiz

1. The questions shall be answered by the team members collectively and should be written on the sheets provided.

2. Each questions will be repeated twice and will be asked in English and can only be answered in English.

3. Thirty (30) seconds will be given to answer each question. An extra minute will be given at the end of the final question of each round for the teams to double check their answers. The time keeper will sound the bell to indicate the time.

4. The answer sheets will be collected by the organizers at the end of each round.

5. Each correct answer will be awarded one point. No fractions of points will be awarded.

6. The quiz master will read out the answers of the preceding round.

7. If any contestant is found referring to any
book,phone,Tab,PDA,Electronic device etc. During the competition, the
Entire team will be disqualified.

8. No contestant will be allowed to leave their seat during any round.

9. The team with the highest aggregate points at the end of 5 rounds will
Be declared winners.

10. In the event of a tie between two or more teams, an elimination
Process will be conducted in the following manner.

All teams that are tied will answer a further set of 3 questions and will be marked as for the main contest. This will be repeated for a maximum of two further rounds after which the teams will be declared joint winners and the prize money split equally.

Dhammika Atapattu had his education at Royal College, Colombo and then at Edith Cowan University,Australia.He is an Ex Banker and an Independent Researcher.
Dhammika Atapattu has been an active participant in the fascinating world of quizzing for over a decade. He was the captain of peoples bank quiz team from 2006-2011 and he was also the Team Leader of the people’s Bank Marketing Dept Team which won the bank’s Interbank Quiz for 3 years.
His enthusiasm continued to grow and in 2009 he formed his own quiz team to participate in more challenging Open Quizzes and the team was placed among the top 3 in the Wisdom Quiz in 2010 and 2011.
Dhammika was also the Team leader of the Serendib Toastmasters Club Quiz Team which became runners up at the CIMA Toastmasters Quiz in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
In the year 2011 Dhammika joined the No.1 Quiz Team in Sri Lakethe Individual team of ‘Vindana Ariyawansa. Since then it has been an eventful journey and their performance has been as follows,
1. Winners of the coveted ‘Global Commerce Quiz’ 2012
2. Winners of inaugural ‘Devans Quiz’ conducted by Maliyadewa College,Kurunegala
3. Winners - the European Union Quiz conducted by the European Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka.
4. 1st Runners up in the Sri Lankan Masterminds 2012 and the first Ever ‘Japan Quiz’ 2012.
5. Winners of the ‘Sri Lankan Master Minds 2013’ which is considered the Flagship quiz in the Sri Lankan Quizzing calendar.
6. Winners of the SLASSCOM Quizathon Quiz 2013.
7. Winners of the Inaugural CIM-Wisdom Quiz conducted by the Chartered Institute of Management in September 2014.
Moreover, Dhammika was one of the winners of the ‘ITN DFCC Mind Star’ reality quiz show in 2011.
Taking a step further Dhammika took in to quiz mastering,questions compiling and forming and Training of quiz teams and so far he has conducted the following quiz competitions

4. Inaugural Interschool quiz Of Sri Sumangala College,Panadura on 19th October 2018
5. Inaugural Inter Regional Quiz of People’s Bank Nuwara Eliya Region on 24th October 2018
6. Allainz Insurance Inter Departmental quiz in 2020 January
